A Good Idea

Someone who shall remain nameless, said something profound to me the other day. As we were saying goodbye to each other, he said randomly "Just remember, they thought the Titanic was a good idea." It was mostly said to encourage my lovely daughter who was with me at the time, but it was good food for thought and chuckle for the rest of my week. Do you think the people on the Titanic wished in hind's site that they had actually counted the lifeboats before they sailed? Were there signs screaming to them that they ignored? Were there warning signs along the way that were directing them not to sail--but they ignored them?? Wouldn't it be great if we could live backwards so we could do everything without disaster?? Was the brief luxury and pampering on the Titanic worth the death at the end? Doubt it, of course. So where am I going with all this? Whoever bothers to read this already knows what I mean. My Titanic lesson when I was a young woman was in the movie "Splendor in the Grass"---tough movie--hard lessons. Watch it with a box of tissues!!!

These are the days

Great day--not much time for rest but moments to hold on to... Sammy and I went to church so Nana could teach her Ladies class. Studying Staci Eldredge's book "Captivating". Never dreamed my messed up years could reap some good but it was great to be able to share the beauty God has given me for the ashes. Great sharing by all the ladies. Then back home--Yubby and Mike picked up the kiddies --right after Mike fixed the communication between the printer and my laptop. Yeah! The cherry on the Sunday (excuse my pun) was going to the FairHaven Union High football banquet and seeing my freshman son David receive his Varsity letter. Go David! Coach said the program has spent 3 years to turn around to a better place. Better attitudes etc. He said this year it was a pleasure to come to practice and all the players have wonderful attitudes and are great kids. I see that too. Good to hear from the coach. Our division has been retweeked and this coming year we will be on a level playing field for the first time in years. 2007 should be an exciting football year. It's great to feel we are a part of the parent and kid group that will make a difference in our community. Sounds corny I know--but I have always been a pollyanna and this is right up my alley! GO SLATERS!!!

Munchkin Land

The beauty of grandparenting is you get to enjoy the little cuties and send them home when their diapee needs changing. This weekend I have my one and three year old grand babies staying with us overnight so Mike and Yubby can reprise up in Burlington for a couple get away. We are having lots of fun but the diapees are mine!! And some angry doctor is taking Amy away for a few hours. So the diapees are ALL mine!!!
